A real crunch match at the bottom of the Premier League takes place on Saturday afternoon as Queens Park Rangers host Aston Villa at Loftus Road. QPR are currently in 20th place, whereas Villa have moved out of the relegation zone after their win over Reading in midweek.
This will be one that both managers are desperate to come out on top in and it is of course Harry Redknapp’s first encounter at Loftus Road since taking charge of the club last weekend.
Redknapp has already called upon Loftus Road to be a fortress for the remainder of the campaign and he knows that he needs to get the team their first win of the season in this one. Anything else would be seen as a big disappointment.
QPR are eight points adrift of safety, which is why they really need to put a good run of results together, especially against the teams around them. Despite not taking all three points this term, Rangers are still the favourites to come out on top in this one as they are at 11/10 with Stan James.
As for Aston Villa, their win against Reading was massive and it was enough to lift them up to 17th place. What Paul Lambert will be after now is another couple of wins to really lift his side up the table.
Lambert knows that Loftus Road is likely to be rocking on Saturday afternoon, with this being Redknapp’s first home game in charge, so his men need to try and silence the crowd with an early goal or two.
Villa conceded five goals in their last away game at Manchester City and the Scottish boss will want a response from his men. Betting on a win for the away side gives you odds of 11/4 with Boylesports.
These two played out two draws last season in the Premier League, but a lot has changed at each club since then, so it might not be much of an indicator as to how this one goes. A draw can be backed at 29/12 with Betfair.
Many bets are sure to be placed on the anytime goalscorer market and at the moment it is Djibril Cisse who is the favourite to score at any point in this game as he is at 17/10 with Paddy Power.
In-form Villa striker Christian Benteke will be looking to get himself on the score-sheet again in this one and his chances of scoring at Loftus Road are rated at 13/5 with Bet365.
In terms of a recommended bet though, we really do like the look of a win for Redknapp and QPR. A 2-0 home win can be backed at 10/1 with Coral, which is a good bit of value.
It will certainly be a very interesting 90 minutes of action in West London.
