Norwich City v Aston Villa Betting Preview

Norwich City and Aston Villa lock horns on Saturday afternoon in what is a massive game at the bottom of the Premier League.

Norwich are on 38 points, six clear of Wigan Athletic – who have a game in hand – in 18th place, whereas Villa are on 37 following their stunning 6-1 win over Sunderland on Monday evening.

A win for either side here takes them to the all-important 40 point mark and would all but guarantee their Premier League status for next season.

This is of course a big game for Villa manager Paul Lambert as he returns to the club he left in the summer for the second time. The Scotsman will be looking for a similar performance to the 4-1 win in the Capital One Cup here back in December.

The Villains are sure to be full of confidence after such a big – if somewhat surprising – victory over Sunderland on Monday. The performance showed just how good they can be on their day and 85/40 with StanJames could be good value on an away win.

As we know, Lambert’s men have struggled for consistency this campaign and notching back-to-back wins isn’t something they have managed to do all that often.

As for Norwich, they went down 1-0 at Stoke City on Saturday, which left fans looking over their shoulders yet again.

The Canaries have failed to cause a threat to the opposition goal on too many occasions this campaign, but with two home games in their final three matches, Chris Hughton is sure to be confident his team can avoid the drop.

A bet on Norwich winning this one gives you odds of 29/20 with BetVictor. When at their best, the Yellows are extremely tough to beat at Carrow Road and with supporters desperate to get one over on their former manager, the stadium should be rocking here.

In these big matches, the bookmakers are always busy taking football bets on the first goal-scorer market.

It is no surprise to see Christian Benteke leading the way in this betting market as he is at 6/1 with BWIN to score first. The Belgian comes into this one on the back of a hat-trick and as he has scored in his two matches against Norwich, he should be in excellent spirits.

Grant Holt is then being offered at 15/2 with William Hill to break the deadlock on Saturday afternoon.

We think that the correct score market is the best place to take some money off the bookies here and feel as though Villa have the quality to come out on top.

A 3-1 win for Lambert’s side is being offered at 28/1 with Coral, which looks very good value to us.

It should be a cracking encounter.
