Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur Betting Preview

Wednesday evening sees a massive London derby come from the Premier League as Chelsea entertain Tottenham Hotspur in an encounter that is likely to have a massive say on the fight for third and fourth position in the top flight this campaign.

The hosts are in third at the moment, two points clear of Arsenal and three ahead of Tottenham, so can book their place in the Champions League with a victory here as they have a much better goal-difference than Spurs.

The visitors would move into the top four with all three points here though and put a top four finish in their own hands, so there is a lot at stake.

Unsurprisungly, the bookmakers have Chelsea as the favourites for this clash and they could be decent value at evens to BetVictor.

The Blues haven’t lost at home to Tottenham in the league for 23 years now, so it is safe to say this is a fixture they have dominated.

Rafael Benitez brings a squad full of confidence into this one as well as they won 1-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

It was a massive three points for Chelsea and rounded-off a superb week as they also booked their place in the Europa League final. After what has been a tough campaign, the home team should come into this one in excellent spirits.

As for Tottenham, you can’t help but feel as though this is a must win for them as anything other than a victory means they will have to rely on Arsenal dropping points against either Wigan Athletic or Newcastle.

Andre Villas-Boas’ men also managed a win over the weekend as they beat Southampton 1-0 in what was a less than convinnsing performance.

The Portuguese will of course be desperate for a result here as he takes on his former club. His time in charge of Chelsea wasn’t a happy one and he might just see this as a chance to show how good a manager he can be.

A bet on Tottenham winning this clash gives you odds of 3/1 with Stan James.

The bookies are sure to take plenty of bets on the first goal-scorer market here and at the moment, Gareth bale is the 11/2 favourite with bet365 to break the deadlock.

Then, both Demba Ba and Fernando Torres are being offered at 6/1 with Coral.

We think betting on the first goal-scorer market is the way to go in this one as well and with the football he is playing right now, Juan Mata looks cracking value at 15/2 with Boylesports to score first.

It should be a scintillating 90 minutes of action here.
