Chelsea v Swansea City Capital One Football Betting Preview

Wednesday evening sees the Capital One Cup semi-final first leg take place between Chelsea and Swansea City at Stamford Bridge. With this leg being at the home of Chelsea, the onus will of course be on them to take the game to their opponents and claim a victory.

However, Swansea are a team capable of causing an upset here if they play their natural attacking football. The first leg of a semi-final is usually a bit of a strange encounter as the away side is often happy to keep the tie close and give themselves a chance of winning on home soil.

With the way the Swans play though, you wouldn’t expect that to be the case here and we could be in for a superb 90 minutes in the capital.

Rafael Benitez knows that this competition is there for the taking. If his men can progress to the final ,which they should do, they have one of Bradford City or Aston Villa waiting for them and they will be confident of beating both of them.

The pressure will be well and truly on though as there is a great deal of expectation now. If Benitez can get his men performing at their best, they could all but seal their place in the final two come the final whistle on Wednesday.

If you want a bet on Chelsea winning this encounter, you can back them at 9/20 with BetVictor.

Swansea will not be here to just make up the numbers though as they are a side full of confidence and are sure to fancy their chances on Wednesday night, especially if the ever-impressive Michu is at the top of his game.

Coming to Stamford Bridge is never easy, but Michael Laudrup’s side will have the backing of plenty of their own supporters and need to make sure they are still in this tie for the fixture at the Liberty Stadium.

The Welsh side are being offered at 15/2 to claim a victory here.

Betting on the half-time/full-time market is always a good idea for these big matches and Chelsea winning at both periods of the game is at 11/10 with William Hill.

You can then back Swansea doing the same thing at 16/1 with Blue Square, which might prove to be decent value if they get a good start.

However, what we fancy for this one is for Swansea to be leading at half-time, but Chelsea coming back to win the match. The chances of this happening are rated at 28/1 with Betfred.

One thing is for sure, we are in for a superb evening of action in this extremely entertaining Capital One Cup competition.
