Aston Villa v Bradford City Betting Preview

| January 21, 2013 | Reply

Aston Villa will be looking to overturn their 3-1 deficit to Bradford City in the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg at Villa Park on Tuesday evening.

The Villains would have been embarrassed by their display at Valley Parade in the first leg and now they have to put in a big performance here to reach the final at Wembley.

There are not going to be any better opportunities to make a domestic cup final, so Paul Lambert will be kicking himself if his men don’t turn this one around.

Villa aren’t in much form though and don’t look like keeping a clean sheet at the moment. They let a two-goal lead slip against West Bromwich Albion last week and we have seen in this competition so far that Bradford are more than capable of putting the ball in the back of the net, so defensively is  where the home side need to really improve.

What they need is an early goal. If they manage that, then the floodgates could open and Lambert might be taking the club to Wembley.

Of course, Villa are the favourites to win this one on the night and you can back them at 2/5 with Coral.

As for Bradford, it has been a quite remarkable achievement to reach the semi-finals of this Capital One Cup as they currently ply their trade in the Football League Two.

Not only have they reached the final four though, they also come into this one with a healthy lead and have every chance of claiming a famous victory.

Phil Parkinson will call upon his men to put in a similar performance to the first leg, but knows they have to remain solid at the back and limit Villa’s goal-scoring opportunities.

Nahki Wells could be the key man for the Yorkshire club and if he is given the chance to score, he is sure to take it with the form he is in right now.

If you want a bet on Bradford winning this one inside 90 minutes, they are being offered at 38/5 with Betfair.

Betting on who might qualify could offer some great value in this one and the Premier League side are 11/10 to make it to the final through any method of victory.

After the first leg though, the League Two outfit are the favourites to qualify and their chances of reaching the final two in this competition are rated at 4/5 with Stan James.

We like placing some bets for this one in the method of victory market. We think that Villa might just edge the tie, but need extra time to see off their opponents. You can back this happening at 6/1 with Ladbrokes.

It is sure to be a special night at Villa Park, whichever way the result goes.
